Melee Weapons L4D2
Summary:
The Chainsaw is a melee weapon. However, unlike the other melee weapons which you can only swing at the Infected, You stick the Chainsaw out infront of you to cut through the zombies like a hot knife through butter.
Also, the Chainsaw has a limited amount of fuel in it, marked by a small meter next to the Chainsaw icon in your inventory, so it will run out with constant use and it doesn't really last too long. After it runs out, you will automatically drop it and get a pistol back. Unfortunately, there is no way to refill it other than to just find a new one.
However, it only uses fuel when you attack with it so just having it out won't lower your fuel meter. The best way to use it is to just tap the fire button on each common infected unless you have a constant stream of them coming after you, in which case, hold down the fire button longer or tap it very fast. Also, be wary, as having the Chainsaw out will lure the common infected in the area to attack you due to the revving noise emitted by the Chainsaw.
Pros:
- Great against common infected, as you can cut through zombie after zombie without breaking a sweat
- Very high damage, able to cut through a common infected in a fraction of a second, and it doesn't take much longer on the special infected.
- Being a melee weapon, it takes up the second slot allowing you to still carry a primary weapon.
Cons:
- Limited amount of fuel prevents constant use and being able to keep it till you die or change secondaries.
- Being a melee weapon, it lacks range so be sure to compensate for the lack of range with a longer range primary weapon.
- Not a very common melee weapon to find, which makes the fact that it has limited fuel hurt more.

Axe Stats
- Enhanced hit location.
- Small AoE for horizontal swipes.
- Chance for a massive damage overhead swipe.
- Shows blood and wear and tear.
Physical Description
The Fireman's axe is a short axe that can be wielded with two hands. Fireman use this sort of axe in their line of work to remove obsticles such as locked doors. This Axe is very sturdy and isn't for show at all. It sports a large wooden handle and a red painted head with the axe blade on one end and a pointed pick on the other.
General Information
The Fireman's axe is a melee weapon that doesn't take up any of the survivor 's inventory slots. Instead it is carried in front of the survivor much like the props in L4D, (propane tanks, oxygen tanks, and gas tanks). If the survivor is pulled by a smoker for example or switches to a weapon the melee weapon it is dropped just like the prop weapons of L4D. The Axe does damage based on hit location with L4D2's gibbing system of hit location. In normal use, the Fireman's axe preforms a horizontal swipe with a small AoE to hit. Occasionally however the weapon will preform a vertical swipe for additional damage much like the criticals in Team Fortress 2 with no AoE. The Axe is a close up weapon with some serious damage potential.

General Information
The Frying Pan is a melee weapon that doesn't take up any of the survivor 's inventory slots. Instead it is carried in front of the survivor much like the props in L4D, (propane tanks, oxygen tanks, and gas tanks). The Frying Pan does damage based on hit location with L4D2's gibbing system. In normal use the frying pan preforms a horizontal swipe that starts from high to low, with a small AoE to hit. Occasionally however the weapon will preform another animation for additional damage on special infected much like the criticals in Team Fortress 2 with no AoE. The Frying Pan is a close up weapon that you can count on.
