This is what happened to the average Joe or Sue when they got infected. The common infected are respectively fast and nimble compared to the survivors in Left 4 Dead. The common infected can climb just about anything not far from the ground, even if they don't have a ladder. The common infected usually are startled by proximity, sources of light, and noises. The lone common infected is hardly a challenge with low hp. What makes the common infected a force to be reckoned with is when they gather in large groups called "Hordes." This is usually caused by a panic event or a finale, but can appear at any time the director feels necessary during a playthrough. They are also strangely attracted to the "Boomers Vomit - Bile" which summons a mob of common infected to attack the survivors covered in the vomit. In Left 4 Dead, the common infected are the weakest of the infected however beware the horde!

Common Infected Damage Melee Damage

  • 1 damage on easy
  • 2 damage on normal
  • 5 damage on advanced
  • 20 damage on expert
  • *Damage from behind is half!*

Explode The Horde

The propane tank can take out quite a few common infected. Especially in close procimity. The Propane Tank requires more effort to pull this off, but one method is to carry the propane tank and throw it into a group of idle common infected and immediately fire at the propane tank. Try to keep some distance as propane tanks can damage you if you are too close. Also any infected that enter even half a moment after the propane tank explodes will be unaffected by it.
