L4D2 Campaigns & Modes
About Campaign (s)
Each campaign starts off in a semi safe area with some supplies usually a medkit for each survivor and a pistol and a choice of a first tier primary weapon. A Campaign can span any amount of chapters and and always ends in a finale where the survivors escape in some sort of rescue vehicle. inbetween the begining and finale there can be any amount of chapters that start in a safe room and end in a safe room.
Crescendo Event (s)
A Crescendo Event in Left 4 Dead is where survivors alert the " Hoard " in one way or another. Usually triggered by an event. These events can span from short to a finale or indefinitely depending on the mode your playing on and the type of crescendo event it is.
Required Cresendo

A required cresendo is one that must be triggered for the survivors to legitimately proceed further or complete a chapter. Examples of required cresendo is a elevator that must be summoned to reach a otherwise unreachable floor. An emergency door that must be opened to be on route to the safe room.
Optional Cresendo

An optional crescendo is one that that doesn't prevent the survivors from proceeding forward if it is not tirggered. A car with an intact car alarm is a perfect example. It only activates if it is shot. However nothing is forcing you to shoot the car to complete the chapter.
Finale Cresendo
A Finale Cresendo Always happens at the final battle of a campaign where survivors trigger a rescue vehicle to come and save them after a time limit. These Cresendos only end when the survivors escape on the vehicle to complete the campaign. A Finale Cresendo usually a 7 part event. Special infected may show up at any time during this cresendo.

Survival Cresendo
A survival Cresendo is similar to a Finale Cresendo except there is no escape instead you have a timer and your goal is to last as long as you can during this crescendo. This Cresendo pushes the boundries of how many infected of one type can be active at once.
Safe house or Safe Room (s)
In every campaign mode (with the exception of survival mode) you will eventually encounter one of these safe houses. They generally act as a transition from one chapter to the next. Made to look exactly the same to give the illusion of playing a series of continous maps.
Entering a Safe House "Ending a chapter in a safe house
When a survivor enters a safe room at the end of the level the door maybe shut even if only one survivor is inside. However the chapter will only end if all living survivors are inside the safe room with the additional requirement of the door bieng closed. Likewise if a living survivor is in the safe room \ house and a 3 survivors are incapacitated the mission will only end when they die or are picked up and taken to the safe room with both requirements met. No infected can destroy this type of safe room \ house.
Exiting a Safe House "Starting a new chapter in a safe house"
When leaving a safe house in campaign mode you may open and reclose the door.if you run into trouble early on such as a hoard you may head back to the safe house if you are close by and hold out until things cool down. This works with just about every type of infected with the exception of the Tank who can punch the door open. When starting a new chapter in verses when the door is open it stays open it is also on a timer so if you take too long it will open automaticly and cannot be reclosed.-

No Mercy Campaign
The New Mercy Campaign takes place right after the introduction video in left 4 dead. After the Tank chases them to the apartment rooftop. The survivors find supplies on the rooftop and begin a downwards decent to the the street. Eventually the survivors decide the best route for avoiding the infected is through the subway. The subway appears to be overrun with the infected many unlikely civilians, employees, and military personnel are infected here. The survivors adventure through the subway ticket booths to find many train cars are overturned and large masses of rubble making them impossible to use. The survivors leave the Subway and pass a gas station and head deeper into the sewers of the city. They follow the sewers until it leads them under Mercy Hospital. After the long battles in the city's sewers the survivors only find that mercy hospital has been overrun. Going on faith alone the survivors fight their way through multiple levels of the sky scraper hospital known as Mercy Hospital until they reach a elevator that takes them a breath away from the still under construction rooftop. The Survivors reach the rooftop to find a radio is still intact with the channel 5 news helicopter pilot is still radioing for any survivors that made it to Mercy Hospital. The Rescuing Helicopter alerts a large portion of the hoard to mercy hospital the survivors hold out until he arrives after a " incident " that caused him to be a little delayed.

Information
little is known about " Crash Course " At this time other than it takes place after No Mercy Campaign but before the Death Toll Campaign. The Chopper Shown in the Movie Poster is speculated to be Channel News 5 's Helicopter that was the rescue vehicle from No Mercy. So putting 2+2 together we can only assume the " incident " that the helicopter pilot mentioned that delayed him is involved. Stay Tunned for more information on " Crash Course " -

Death Toll Campaign
Death Toll takes place after the Crash Course Campaign. The campaign starts off at a closed off road that has been destroyed. At the turnpike the Survivors find supplies in a abandoned police car. The survivors head down the road and into a the turnpike. The turnpike has alot of abandoned smashed damaged vehicles inside in one of the most nightmareish pile-ups the survivors have seen. After the turn pike the survivors make their way into a sewage plant building. The survivors decend deeper into the buildings drains with the road gone their best option is to navigate the drains to riverside a town that supposedly held out. The survivors eventually emerage and pass an abandoned bridge where they see an old church in the town outskirts of riverside. They encounter a churchman who is holding out in the church 's safe room who supposedly was tricked into letting a turning infected into the safe room. driven insane and extrememly paranoid the church man rings the massive church bells and alerts the hoard. The church man having been infected earlier eventually turns into a smoker, boomer, or hunter. Unlocking the door from the inside during the mutation to get to the survivors. The survivors deal with him and soon find out riverside is overrun and that the rumors of it holding out were false. The survivors decide to head to the port in hopes of boat to escape in. The survivors make it to the boathouse to find a radio that a local fishing vessel is looking for survivors the survivors hold out until the boat arrives and escape.

Dead Air L4D1 Campaign

Dead Air Campaign
The Dead Air Campaign supposedly starts after Death Toll although nothing actually supports this theory other than campaign order. Dead Air starts in a greenhouse room ontop of a large complex after spotting a working airplane they decide to head towards the local airport. The actual time in the greenhouse is rather minimal only lasts a room or so. The Survivors Proceed rooftop to rooftop into various offices and apartments until the hit streetside. After taking refuge the survivors again proceed on rooftops and penetraite various buildings until they have to active a crane to lower a metal crate with some welded ladder on one side. eventually the survivors come to a constrcution yard with alot of unfinished projects as well as passing high voltage generators. Eventually after crossing some various air plane wreckages they go through parking to reach the airport entrance. The survivors find the airport pretty overrun (no surprize there) Passing through the various lobbys and rooms and of course bagage pick the survivors make there way to the terminal. After reaching the terminal The survivors find the runway pretty beat up with a un comprehendable amount of peices of various airplane wreckage. Once they reach the edge of the terminal they spot an airliner heading right towards them obviously to save them from the infected! Nah the airplane is on a crash course and it strikes a nerve or two between the survivors for a near miss. Just when things are looking grim the survivors spot a green airliner with a pilot inside contacting the survivors from a corpse that was likely an unfortunite fellow who was going to fill the airliner up for its long voyage to some unknown location. The survivors take over where the unlucky fellow failed. And Turning the pumps on alerts the hoard. After the airliner is is nice and full the cargo of the airliner opens up and the survivors make a semi-cinematic escape into the sunset.

Blood Harvest Campaign
Blood Harvest refers to one of latests parts of blood harvest 's chapters in it's finale the survivors pass through a corn field likely the were the name origininated. Blood Harvest starts in the woods supposedly sometime after Dead Air although no confirmed connection has been made other than campaign order. Francis lets the survivors know there is a military installation(a military owned farm) near by so the survivors are forced to go through the woods route. Sometime during their stroll they cross a old wooden bridge and a few seemingly out of place buildings maybe some sort of ranger station of sorts. The survivors head into a large building that leads into a large series of tunnels with a small generator room. After the Tunnel exit the survivors find themselves into another wood - ed area with large drops off on either side. Eventually the survivors reach a large bridge that must be knocked over with a train car to proceed. The survivors make it to an abandoned not functioning train station with all the bells and whistels the eventually cross a large traincar bridge that will take them close to the farm. After some more navigating of some train cars the survivors see a un - harvested field with corn and the usual military installation signs. The survivors navigate the corn to reach the farmhouse and barn where they call the military for an extraction. After holding out for so long the survivors will have a chance to board a military armored all terrain vehicle and make a semi - cinematic escape.Blood Harvest Chapters

Last Stand L4D1 Survival
( 0 Articles )

Last Stand Information
The Last Stand is supposedly the last installment in l4d1 's story after escaping the infected time and time again and taken by the military to the lighthouse where the survivors run out of places to go. The Last Stand is basically the Survivors do not escape and death is inevitable. The Last Stand is the most iconic of l4d 's survival mode unlike any of the other campaigns you have to specify the mode not the case with " Last Stand ." The goal with last stand and other survival mode maps is to reach a gold metal by holding out for 10 minutes.
